of a P5 conference, I am getting a little tired of some of the statements people are making about conference expansion. E.g. everyone seems to think BYU was the "best fit" for the B12 in the first round of expansion. This simply isn't true. Yes, BYU has probably the most widely spread fan base of any expansion schools, but that's it. That's the entirety of their leg up. TCU is in the middle of Dallas in the middle of B12 country. That they have a smaller following is irrelevant. Baylor, Tech, Iowa State are all small following schools with a place in the B12. Also, being in Texas makes it easy for TCU to develop natural rivalries. TCU was a better fit for the B12 than BYU. One plus for the Coug does not negate multiple positives for TCU. Why they added West Virginia is beyond me, that one makes no sense, but TCU was the right add for them.
