that simply don't understand it. They make outwardly express their respect for it... but inward they find it strange and weird and in some cases... unfair.

If BYU were to join the BIGXII today, they'd be top 3 in some, and top 5 in most, categories in everything that matters... academically, athletics, facilities etc. It's just the baggage that is keeping BYU from being a slam dunk in this. However if the BIGXII can overlook TCU's non-existence in the DFW market, and a market that they have always had... I think they can easily ignore some if not most of the problems, headaches and head scratchers, that BYU would bring.

BYU will have to make concessions, and I'd be more than willing to give up BYUTV for a year or 2 for BYU to get in... once in, then do the negotiating with BYU rights and what have you.
