The hardest struggle for most people i've known who have suffered from sexual
assault is the feeling that no one knows them or understands them because no one knows the horrible thing that happened to them and haunts them every day. They struggle to talk about it with anyone, especially family or others they are really close to, because they feel so broken, ashamed, and embarrassed. In many cases they blame themselves and think it was their fault.

So yes, simple awareness is incredibly important on this issue.

However, I agree that after that more can and should be done. But awareness is definitely an essential step in that process. Both on the individual level and societal level.
