take the blue-tinted goggles off
Nobody is as big a Y fan as I am. Utah is a better fit for the Pac than BYU when you consider academic principles and philosophies. I believe they accomplish a lot of good with the medical school. Athletics had a couple nice years but that didn't factor into the invite - nice bonus but that's about it.
What is crazy is the fact that the majority of what a school actually is comes from the undergraduate programs and utah's not that impressive.
Regardless - if I was a pac 10 commissioner, I would have had a hard time not picking the utes either. What shows the low threshold of entry into the conference is the admittance of Colorado. The liberalism there makes utah feel like BYU!! A typical ute would say - "well if the barrier to entry was so low and BYU still didn't get chosen - then they must be real bad..." I think we all know they weren't even considered because of the religious affiliation. For the ALUF's, the ones that are proud of being "picked" over BYU - you make me sick - knowing it is the same religion you believe that played a big part of the decision. Many in the Pac have even said, if it was up to the athletic directors BYU would have been invited decades ago.
What BYU has done since last summer with the available options has me pumped about our future.
