A couple years back a baseball player lost his ecclesiastical endorsement
because his Bishop said he'd never seen him in church. It caused quite a fiasco and made all the papers. I'm sure the issue is one the Athletic Department would rather have handled in house. I thought at the time I'd be tempted to join the Unitarian church (and get an endorsement from them) just to poke a finger in the eye of the HC.

The kids father came and got into the mix and claimed his son had been going to church all along. How he knew this from out of state was the real question.

The endorsement is at the Bishop's discretion, but I would think most Bishops would want the student to be active in order to feel right about signing the endorsement.
