members who don't get to send their kids to a church school for whatever reason. And a lot of hardworking tithe-paying members who themselves might want to attend but can't, for whatever reason. The Trustees recognize that and I think it definitely factors into their thinking regarding BYU policies. Put simply, it's not really fair to ask members of the church to subsidize a church education for people who don't take church at least somewhat seriously. The Board believes that it's a privilege to have other members pay for your education, so if you're admitted, you're expected to treat it as such.
I appreciate the Trustees' consideration about this kind of thing.
