Shut the crap up. BYU did no turning of its back on Murphy.
His scholarship was ready and waiting for him at the appointed time. For whatever reason Jake wasn't happy with that and had no desire to return to BYU, and that's fine. If Jake had wanted to be at BYU, he would be at BYU. He didn't, and he's not.

Most likely he saw the writing on the wall of 4 guys on depth chart in front of him, all of which were sophomores. Like most of us, he couldn't have imagined that none of them would latch down the starting job. Meanwhile, Utah, as always, had nothing but crap for TE's. When you put it that way, it wasn't a bad decision for Jake to go to Utah. It certainly didn't look like at the time that he was needed or would get much playing time at BYU.

He came home early and found a loophole to go where he wanted. Good for him. But just shut the crap up, cause you're making yourself look stupid. The scholarship was ready and waiting for him at the appointed time. He came home early, so what? If he had wanted to be at BYU, he would be at BYU. Or are you really going to try and argue that Papa Murphy didn't have the money for a single semester's worth of cheap yewt tuition at BYU?
