RE: Not to speculate, but did Van Noy had off-field issues also.
Porter has a ton of talent. There will be many schools taking a very close look at him, including BYU. His off the field issues will be what keeps BYU from seriously considering him. If you live in Utah, spend some time watching Porter play this fall. If he can stay healthy, he will amaze you with is ability to pick apart a defense with his arm and absolutely dominate on defense. Good student. ACT scores coming up. He just has to stay out of trouble off the field.

Everyone talks about his ability on the defensive side of the ball, but I really like him at QB. Pin point accuracy on the move, fantastic arm strength, good speed and elusiveness, and at 6'5", can see well down the field.

Salem Hills had a very young team last year. They struggled at offensive line against big teams like Timpview and Spanish Fork. Porter and Chad Peterson (took over at QB when Porter was hurt) had a good group of receivers to throw to including Porter's brother Gunnar, Zac Zobell, and Ammon Fifita. They won their first state playoff game at Orem easily and late turnovers cost them a 2nd round game at Woods Cross. Good young coaching staff. Salem Hills is a program on the rise. Go watch them play.
