Especially considering (last time I checked) the MWC only plays 8 conference games leaving 4 OOC to schedule, and 5 possible OOC games to schedule in years where as a member of the MWC BYU plays Hawaii and takes advantage of the extra game. That is 4-5 opportunities to schedule top tier opponents giving BYU the necessary SOS to reach the playoff, in reality even as an Indy BYU will not be playing more than 4-5 top tier opponents in a year.

Also in the MWC BYU could win a conference championship, one of the criteria the selection committee has stated they will look at. And while many will downplay a MWC championship if you read my post below you'll see that the opportunity a MWC championship offers has increased significantly given the new CFB playoff rules.
