I know many people that produce things, the problem is you have a narrow view
of what producing means. You underestimate how much knowledge we have, and turning that in to practice is actually not all that hard. The yield on our garden for example is astronomically higher than it would have been 50 years ago because of Youtube, online forums etc. Small farms have actaully made a comeback as well as crafts and handmade items. I have a much bigger concern with the education gap in our country. There is a huge intellectual and even work ethic divide.
