In the 1980s it might have been different, but obesity at all ages is an epidemic, anorexia and bulimia are so rare in comparison that it is hard to even compare.

Regardless of the thin ideal about about 30-40% of the under 12 year olds at my kids swim meets have a belly that hangs like an apron (panus).
