As an FYI for those who haven't ever worked in the industry, whirlpool is the company that created planned obsolescence. Most appliances are made with a 7 year life cycle. The reason was that if they kept making things that lasted 30 years they would run out of consumers.

I have both an old Maytag set and a Duet set. I've has trouble with the duets but nothing with the maytags which are twice as old.
