The article says he "acknowledged" that he would leave early if he had a big year and would be a first round pick.

I suspect the author of the article asked him if he would leave early under those circumstances, and he said yes.

This isn't to say that Kyle wouldn't love an NBA career. And this isn't to say that he has never thought about that possibility. But I suspect that he isn't the one bringing it up and speaking about it publicly. He's just the one who has to pay the consequences for having a reporter ask him a stupid question and for answering it honestly.

And - if we're being completely honest here - "IF" Kyle has a big year...and "IF" he is projected to be a first round pick (a couple of pretty big if's when combined) then it would be dumb of him to NOT leave for the NBA.
