+!. Even many of his defenders have it wrong. KC's central purpose in the
interview was likely to prepare the BYU community that he is gone after his junior year. Since his freshman year when he stepped in for Davies and led the team in rebounds in each of the last 7 games, he could be projected as a prospect. The durability concern reared its ugly head in March and threw more uncertainty into the equation.

Nevertheless, since the Carlino departure was announced, it has been clear that Collinsworth will be the man with the ball in his hands next year with a full opportunity to demonstrate his talent and leadership.

Given his age, experience, and level of excellent play, KC would have absolutely nothing to learn by staying at BYU for his senior year. Count on him being gone next year, likely to the NBA, otherwise to Russia with love, or in continued rehab. IMO, odds of him playing for BYU his senior year are <10% and almost entirely associated with an unfortunate delay in his ACL recovery.

Given the high level of talent generally among future BYU players, especially among those who serve missions, it should be no surprise to see more early departures among other pro prospects. Pro career duration is short enough in this sport without delaying the start of it until age 25.
