Let's be honest here people. Faults on both sides. I don't hate him, but he was far from perfect in his decision making.
Prideful blindness to the fact that you are hurting your team with your decision is a fault. I mean, it's not like this is unique to Nelson here. I bet many players would have done it, especially when the coaches are dumb enough to say it's ok. Who wants to tell themselves to sit?... But that doesn't make it right. Don't give me crap about grit, toughness, and leadership... Those things all come with the absence of pride and selfishness.
The complaints were never really about him as a QB and how hard he tried on the field. Of course he did. And some really good things came from it. So apologists, quit using that in his defense... nobody sane has an issue with that. The problem was with his lack of selflessness. It's very tough when the coaches ok it, like I said, not many in his situation would stand up and make the right decision.... But 98 out of 100 guys doing it doesn't make it the right thing to do. Tough decision, but personal responsibility can't be ignored.
