I hear you
I was careful to not say this years defense will be better. I think they will be fine, as the backups playing are good players in their own right. I think BYU can give up points in the 20s to UConn and still win. Last year BYU's offense was completely new and inexperienced. This year with much more experience, I see the BYU O v. UConn D as the matchup of the game that BYU can really exploit if BYU does not turn the ball over at inopportune times. Because of that matchup, I think BYU may put a lot of points up. Even if Taysom has not improved much over the end of last season, Taysom's handle on the offense with a potentially better OL should be plenty to rack up a double digit win (which is what the people putting money on the game apparently see too).

I know the OL is young and less experienced, but the fact that these young guys are beating out the starters from last season gives reason for hope that though they will have a lot to learn (which is what I indicated), they should be at least as good or better than how the OL ended up last season. I still cringe at the right DE of Virginia running right around Ryker Mathews at will. Our OL cannot be any worse than the OL performed at Virginia last year, and even then BYU should have left with a W. The interception with a couple minutes left on the soft toss to Williams that would have been a first down is another example of how the weather affected BYU that day, which helped facilitate the slippery drop (or I should say, pop of the ball up in the air) by Williams.
