"What you perceive as "negativity" I simply proclaim as educated realism"
This is always the hue and cry of the negative person - "I'm just being a realist"

If you were to say that "this is what I think" then you would have some chance of being right. But you present you case as if what you are saying is absolutely true without any doubt. Yet there is evidence to the contrary, and it has nothing to do with the BCS (I'm not even sure where you got that from). I am quoting Sagarin SOS numbers from last year. You are making things up based on your speculation. I can and have read the same things (for the most part I am sure) that you have read. I definitely don't get what you are getting from it.

So here is my educated realism. As I said, BYU has already done it so to say it can't be done is 100% wrong. Sorry but that is just a basic fact. Can't be done and unlikely to be done are two different things all together. There are lots of things that people with similar attitudes to yours said can't be done. People did them anyway. Some of those impossible things are now every day occurrences.

What about my scenario, which is not even a big stretch of the imagination. BYU and 3 other P5 teams are undefeated. Everyone else has 2-3 losses. Do you actually think BYU is not in the playoff at that point? If you still say no then how about everyone else with 4 losses? Again, this is an unlikely but not impossible scenario. Do you still say BYU is out?

The committee is not "unconcerned" with the AP, Coaches or Sagarin. They are all tools they will use to determine who is the best team. Maybe not directly but it is pretty hard to ignore who is ranked where.

The funny thing is there are national media members talking about BYU getting into the playoff. Not all are like Mark May (and Samurai Jack ). So your "island of BYU faithful" is already proven incorrect.

By the way... TH has always said that independence is not a permanent solution.
