Do you want to keep a job? If you officiate for a league and they (the coaches) are unhappy with how it went for them you may not get your contract renewed. Imagine if you were to work for the PAC12 or Big12 and you perform poorly in a game they are involved in with an independent who you have NO allegiance to the consequences may be your job.
