Conferences are ranked by their overall record

And that's motivation enough for a bias.

What's even funnier is when the bias happens during a conference game so the higher ranked team remains undefeated (saw it in Oregon vs WSU this past weekend).

Don't kid yourself, stuff like this does happen. Most games aren't close enough for it to matter, but when they are crazy stuff happens.
