Thanks for posting that study. Interesting results...
And really, not all that surprising. It's a valid response to my point, nonetheless.

So why do so many programs continue to fire coaches when it is so harmful to success? My guess is that most fans and programs don't really care about the differences between being mediocre and good. Most want to take the risk to be great. Sure, bringing in a new coach may increase the risk, but the benefits of getting that one special coach make the risk worth it.

Thinking of it from a BYU fan's perspective, we know what we have in Bronco. If you are fine with how that last 10 years went (keeping current trends in mind) then he's your guy for the next 10 years. If you believe that BYU can achieve more, then the possible benefits outweigh the risk of hiring the wrong guy.
