Not everybody is Larry Fitzgerald (or the closest 2014 equivalent, since I stopped paying attention about when he was the league's best WR). What I'm saying in comparing those two, is that you get a higher aggregate decathlon score from "your average" point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center, than you do from a right guard, a nose tackle, a linebacker, a cornerback and a place kicker. What basketball gives away to the strong positions, it more than takes back in the speed, and vice versa. Hence the "all-around"-ness of basketball.
If you were to hand-pick ONE player from the NFL, yes, you'd probably get a better decathlon than picking ONE from the NBA or EPL, but there are a LOT of lineman out there that would bring down the average, and there AREN'T a lot of soccer players out there strong enough to throw a discus as far as your average NBA player could.
