By referring to the team record rather than his defenses top 5 ranking

...in both total yards allowed by defense and points allowed by defense. A top 5 ranking in both measures his first year for a team in a P5 conference? This guy is going places. The offense's lack of production leading to a 5-4 record has nothing to do with his performance as a D coordinator.
