In my experience there are coaches at least at the little league levels that
only care about wins. They teach there kids to play 2-3 zone, and they win almost all of their games. However, when the kids get older (and end up on other coachs' teams) they aren't great because they never learned to play man-to-man. This hurts in higher levels whether the coaches have man-to-man or zone defenses.

The coach himself is fine, because he just takes the next group of 7 or 8 year olds and just keeps winning.
