Went to my first BYU football fireside tonight....
My 11 year old was actually paying some attention. It was good.

I could give a full report, but instead I will just give some points....

1) sky got on the team because he kept bugging broncos brother (mr. Utah amazing athlete) to help him train. Broncos brother told bronco he should give sky a chance. Sky gave a great talk.

2) Blackmon was very good....a very delightful happy person. Said he went to Oregon, got a bad reputation the coaches didn't like, and decided to start life over a riverside cc. He was offered by Fresno st., Utah, and BYU. Utah flat out told him not to go to BYU because he wouldn't be able to follow the honor code. Holiday was a key factor in getting him to BYU. He got suspended the first game cause he was wearing an earing. Admitted he was wrong.

3) question and answer session was shirt but good. First question asked was if not playing on Sundays was a big reason why no p5 invite. Bronco said that was part of the problem. Said BYU will not compromise on that.

4) in all, fireside was good, bronco is a good man but is slightly odd (obviously). Lots of assistant coaches in the back wearing their polo's and khakis.

5) bronco was asked why they do firesides. He basically said it was to give back to the community.

6) Jordan Leslie was very funny and very mature. Great addition to the team this year.

I love BYU. It is good for lots if people. I can't help but say there was no feeling of excitement for the game tomorrow....no energy....just a simple fireside. Good for our youth and good for some of the players.
