I don't think that's a fair portrayal of many cab companies. What do you mean

committed to the community? Taxi companies have tried their best throughout time to limit competition in the name of regulation. Uber drivers should not go in expecting to get rich - they're cab drivers. Yet I bet they make better money than many traditional taxi cab drivers.
