I agree. And I don't understand the whole "Gotta make WV happy" arguement.
If the Big 12 were to expand east, wouldn't that bother Texas Tech (the leagues most western team)? I would say that BYU is as close or closer to most Big 12 teams than UCF in Orlando. I don't think travel is going to be a big deal. When it comes down to expansion for the Big 12, the reason is for football. Not for the other sports. If there are concerns about that for the other sports, I'm sure BYU would jump on a football only offer. And if a football only offer is being considered, I wouldn't be surprised if Boise State were the other one offered. That instantly boosts the credibility of the conference from a football standpoint, and if it's only football travel and Sunday play don't matter.

The best move I can think of for the Big 12 is to add BYU/Boise State as football only members, work with ESPN to keep contracts for BYU/BSU in tact until the Big 12 renegotiates it's TV deal to include BYU/BSU (so BYU/BSU keep their contracts with ESPN and the money involved), and have BYU/BSU not take any money from the Big 12 TV deal (bowl games and CCG money is shared between 12) until they are included in the contract. I'm sure it's doable with some nifty lawyering. But this way, the Big 12 gets it's CCG, add 2 of the strongest football schools available to the football conference, boosts it's SOS for all teams, spreads it's footprint into 3 time zones, and adds some quality rivalries (BYU/Texas is going to be good for a while, BSU/TCU is always hot, BYU/TCU is good, of course BYU/BSU is a good one), and STILL GETS TO KEEP THE MONEY TO DIVIDE UP 10 WAYS. BYU/BSU for football only is my dream scenario. It makes too much sense..
