but it is all relative and depends on each individual situation. If his backup was offered before him, I could see why the family would feel slighted and BYU should not be surprised by the result. Obviously BYU would have reasons to do it, (more upside, may fit position better, etc.) but that move will change the situation and if the kid has better options, he would most likely pursue those other options. Now if BYU comes in late and is the best offer, the kid would probably take it.
