It makes no difference if they were at BYU or not
This isn't a difficult concept, so I'm not sure why it's not sinking in. If someone offers you a ticket in the nosebleeds you're going to be much less enthused about going to the game than if someone offered you tickets on the 5th row, halfcourt. Sure, you might go either way, but your attitude, or in relevant terms, the energy the student brings is going to be a lot different.

Look, I'm not trying to attribute the team's incredible home court success from the '06, '07, '08 (three teams that were all very comparable to this year's team in skill level) solely on the student section, but I do think that here and there it's made a significant impact and that it's absurd for you to try and pretend that the only thing contributing to a deflated atmosphere in the MC is the skill level of our team.
