aspect of the storytelling, not the books. [In my opinion] some of the changes were made because it is more interesting for a movie goer to watch a character struggle with conflict rather than make simple choices because they are of such noble mind and heart. What worked well in the books with the elves and ents and characters doesn't necessarily translate to good film making, especially to a 21st century audience. I know it won't make some happy, but the changes with Faramir don't bother me at all.
