when we hire and interview employees and we hear about pending indictiments
we kind of use that as a red flag. Most interviewees don't have indictments. I do feel bad about the falsely indicted. But a majority of people are able to avoid them pretty easily. Its not a good sign that Charles West has some of this baggage. But hopefully he can demonstrate that whatever it is that happened isn't going to be something thats going to be problem moving forward. Look at what happened with Jameis Winston... he was a revelation for a year and then once his legal battles came up...it didn't matter if he won or lost.. the image was tarnished and it made his coaches look apologetic and win at all costs. I hate red flags. Some people just need the proper environment like BYU to thrive and turn it all around. You can't let one guy take down a program though. I look back at Terrelle Pryor when I was at Ohio State...sure he was fast and sure he won games...but he really cost Ohio State with his actions off the field. I'm not saying that what Charles West did is similar to Jameis or Terrelle...but we've all seen what can happen if you start making exceptions for a guy thats fast/good.
