should have won if it weren't for a questionable call and a blocked field goal.

I think it is largely a mental hurdle that the players and coaches haven't figured out how to get over. I also think in sports that one team simply doesn't matchup well with another. In the NBA the playoffs often come down to matchups and who you match well with and who you don't.

I remember the New England Patriots of the early 2000's were killing everyone. Yet Mike Shanahan and his offense always had success against them and I believe was 4-2 against Bill and the Patriots from 2000-2005. The Broncos weren't as good as the Patriots overall, but the Bronco offense seemed to neutralize many of the strengths of the Patriot defense.
