The student government and admin have done as you stated, and would love for UVU pride to kick in. It isn't happening. Students there are primarily BYU fans, and generally feel apathy or mild loyalty to UVU. There is no reason for BYU to succumb when UVU has no leverage and BYU has no upside in caving like that.
