UW avoided Gonzaga to their own detriment. GU has won 8 of 9 against UW.
And while the series has been on hiatus (it re-starts in 2016-17) UW has gone down, while Gonzaga has clearly become the premier college basketball program in Washington State.
Avoiding them has just made sure that UW hasn't had the chance to upset Gonzaga. It's only helped to give GU a clear path to the status as top dog in Washington.
