I think we want to survive and thrive and in order to do that BYU needs the fanbase to embrace independence as reality. To get full support from the fans, the admin needs to create unity on this issue (i.e., "they won't let us in, so we will do it on our own.") I think right now the fanbase and the admin are bickering with each other with the fanbase thinking that the admin hasn't done what it takes to get us into a p5. This media push is to unify everyone . . . not an actual attempt to get into a p5 conference.
