Lets see, Steve Young was Brigham Young's great great great grandson with the same last name, was a league MVP, a Super Bowl MVP, and one of the highest rated passers in NFL history. I think he's a little more famous than Danny White.
Danny Ainge's NBA career was much higher profile than Tom Chambers (mostly thanks to playing for the Celtics).
My focus is on the individual impact a player can have as a member of the Church both on the people around him and in terms of LDS PR and it's not even close. A high profile player on a non-LDS team like Duke can generate a lot of good for the Church. That same player at BYU is just a rounding error.
