The question was why would anyone choose BYU? Why, because AFTER college having BYU next to your name automatically triggers the "he's a Mormon response.

And the comparisons were absolutely legit. Danny White was the starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys. Who knows he's Mormon? Tom Chambers had a much better NBA career than Danny Ainge. He was a four time All Star and the All Star game MVP. Who knows he's Mormon?

But the point isn't who is more famous...it's who is more famous as a Mormon and why. Who is automatically identified as Mormon by the man on the street. The general population doesn't have a clue that either Danny White or Tom Chambers are or were Mormon when they were playing. It was a footnote that didn't merit discussion. Had they had BYU by their name that narrative changes.
