Oh I would concede during college all day long from an interpersonal standpoint.
But my point has always been after college from a mass communication standpoint. No doubt an LDS athlete will standout at any other school in the country. There is goodness in that. But the question was asked why choose BYU? I provided a reason. I don't assign any greater or lesser value to the reason than the many other reasons he chooses a school. But for a superstar...for a Danny Ainge...for a Ty Detmer...heck, I'd almost say Jim McMahon had a greater mass communication impact for the Church than Danny White...and we all know he's not a Mormon. But a superstar that leaves with BYU next to his name...even if only at BYU for a year...will forever be linked to the Church specifically because of the BYU next to his name.

Jabari will not be naturally linked to the Church because of Duke. He'll be linked to the Cameron Crazies...to Coach K...to the Duke tradition...but when he shows up on an NBA Today telecast in 20 years people will not think Mormon. With Danny Ainge, they always will. With Jimmer, they always will. Shawn Bradley will always be a Mormon to people. And it's all because of the time they spent at BYU.
