As someone pursuing medicine, I wouldn't say doctors should be paid less because their job is competitive. It's not a simple inverse relationship where competitive jobs get paid less and vice versa.

I can see where you're coming from with the rest of those things though. They do have some perks. In particular, the stations do have a lot of nice amenities that a lot of workers don't get.
