All religious sentimentality and belief aside, there is no evidence of a "next state" (besides a state of advanced decomposition). As a scientist, I have to acknowledge the possibility that this is the only life any of us will ever live. It seems incredibly irresponsible not to take every possible measure to ensure that our children live through whatever this world, this universe throws at us.

Those who have prepared are not morally obligated to "consecrate" their means to those who squandered their opportunity to do the same.
