What will these people say when it doesn't happen next year, or the year after..

that, or in the next 20 years?

I don't think it's inevitable, far from it actually. This world is probably better and safer to live in right now than at any point in history, and I do think it's getting better. Granted there are still many problems, and there always will be problems of some kind.
