for life in most disaster situations. And if the hypo is that if you die you will be leaving your loved ones to fend for themselves, then obviously you want to remain. But if the hypo somehow gives you the choice to either a) have your whole network of loved ones blown to pieces by an asteroid, or b) survive the asteroid but have to live a primitive lifestyle and witness all the suffering and pain; then yes, a lot of us "hope for a better world" crowd wouldn't mind dying.
Now, if the hypo is that this life is all there is, and the choice is between never being born and living a primitive lifestyle (or any lifestyle for that matter - and obviously there can be no "choice" since choice would denote pre-mortal existence), I can't see the benefit of one over the other. Obviously there is no regret in never existing. There can't be. You don't "miss out" on anything by never existing.
