think BYU must get into a P5 conference soon in order to compete at the upper tier.

But, unless you think that every G5 team is slated to NDSU level relevance, I don't understand why you think they'll slip that far. IMO, the most likely of the 'bad' outcomes is that BYU remains stuck near the top of the G5 strata. Not what I want, but not NDSU either.
