I too get upset by BYU's trajectory, Bronco short comings, accepting of mediocrity, etc. and think, maybe I'd be happier if I start rooting for a P5 team who not only talks the talk but walks it too. A program that regardless of their academic standards or other goals, wants to win a NC and will cut coaches when they don't produce and really commit to winning without compromising all moral values (ie FSU and OSU). And I think most schools in the upper half of P5 leagues are like that. Wanting athletes to succeed off the field is not unique to BYU.

But I haven't been able to do it. I kinda like Stanford and Cal as they are closest geographically but games there aren't anything special. USC and UCLA, meh, that's LA. I root for Boise State, but wonder if that won't be a sinking ship.

I haven't been able to figure out a connection to any other school yet that makes me want to know the name of each starter, who they are recruiting and anxiously count down the days to kick off like I do with BYU.

But, I am checking Cougarboard less and less. I haven't bought any tickets to a game this year. Perhaps my fandom is just fading and I should just let it....
