Would anyone here pay 50 grand to kill a lion in Africa?
I can think of so many better things to do with that money. That to me is the aspect that doesn't make sense is is how far he went out of his way to do what he did. It's one thing if a local person poaches. But to travel that far and spend that much it reveals something to me about his character and priorities. It makes him harder to defend and sympathize with. Who does that? And dentists must be Overcharging us if they have that kind of money laying around. I just don't feel that bad for him.

I could almost understand if the money went to a good cause that he deeply cared about. Or if killing this lion would help other lions or something like that. But it just doesn't seem justifiable for the price he paid both financially and then personally. Hunting bears and elk just wasn't enough. He must have had a certain bloodlust. I'm ok with hunting to a point... But I believe in being a wise steward. There is such a thing as overkill and overhunting... And this to me falls in that category.

And people trying to defend him with "well look at planned parenthood" are getting old. It makes you look like you are more mad about what liberals think than you are mad about actual abortion. It was a solid point but it just looked like political talking points read from a TelePrompTer after a while. I saw people use that line that seemed more worried about gun rights than they were about abortion and they were Conservatives. You would think liberals would be the only ones more concerned about the guns but I just don't think they are alone on the priorities there. Many conservatives were more outraged about the outrage of the killing of the lion than they were about the planned parenthood IMO and that disturbs me. They are two separate issues that can be talked about separately. I respected the people that brought up the planned parenthood outrage without tying it to the lion killing. To me it shows they actually cared about it and weren't just huffy about something that could influence people's views on hunting.
