Living LDS and living according to certain standards are completely different
If a kid really wants to play for a football team, he won't have a problem cutting his hair and shaving. He can control himself and his conduct for the 4 years he is at school.

The Utes can use anything they want regarding the Honor code if that is what they need to do to get recruits. We also have gotten recruits in the past due to the Honor Code - and those recruits weren't LDS.

Instead of blaming the rules, blame the individual. An honor code violation doesn't ruin your career, it doesn't ruin your life; just like sinning doesn't ruin your life. Repentance is not always an easy process, and it requires restitution. I don't understand the CB folks that hate on the HC.

Living a higher code of morals or honor or grooming standards isn't a bad thing. I did that for 2 years while serving a mission. I chose to go, so I also chose to shave every day, keep my hair short, and wear a white shirt and tie every day. I didn't complain, and nobody else should complain because I chose to live by those standards. These players on the BYU football team chose to live this way, and abide by these rules for the time they play football at the Y. That is their choice, and I support it.
