"Taking the program to the next level" is not on Bronco
Remember when we had the 3rd-best defense in the nation a few years back? That was when bronco had a future 1st-rounder, 2nd-rounder, and 2 or 3 other NFL-worthy guys (that weren't drafted) to work with.

You know how you attract more high-quality recruits? It's by putting more money into a program.

When you spend a P5-level amount of money on your facilities, equipment, and football staff, you will begin to attract more of the big recruits on a regular basis, but because BYU is so cheap, it's not at all likely to happen. Our coaches, assistant coaches, and other football staff have some of the lowest salaries in the FBS; how else do you think we lost Geoff Martzen, a very talented recruiting coordinator, to Colorado State?
Our stadium is over 50 years old and badly in need of either a replacement or a major face-lift; the IPF, though still a state-of-the-art facility, still has the original field turf in it (which should have been replaced TWICE already).

Bronco has shown he can put together a sound team time and again, but as P5 programs continue to spend more and more and BYU begins to fall farther and farther behind, it is only going to become more and more difficult for him to get the players necessary to do that.

As the saying goes, you can't make chicken salad out of chicken ----. That is what we are going to get with higher and higher frequency despite our coaching staff's best efforts if the lack of spending, and consequent widening of the gap between the P5 and us, continues.
