I guess we will have to disagree. The CFO of the football team should be a
leader, manager, recruiter and liaison with management. They set the tone and oversee others. Bronco had no experience running an offense and yet BYU thought it was okay to hand him the keys to a storied program known for passing the football. You can argue that might have been part of the problems BM has had (Anae, Doman, Anae) but BYU thought nothing of letting a man with no offensive experience take over a program known for offense.

Tom Holmoe would be the one making the hire and he wouldn't hire someone who wanted to play option football. What he should do, and what I hope he will do, is hire someone for the HC position to focus on management, leadership, recruitment, public relations and accountability.

BM is a great defensive coordinator who is also doing the job of a HC. We need a great HC doing the job of a head coach and that is where I think we disagree. The CFO needs to know football and coaching but focus on leadership and less on a particular offensive or defensive scheme. I understand Ken's football DNA was option football just like Lavell's DNA was defense but I think the difference is leaders will find the right people for their situation and lead them and support them and then get out of the way. Based on what Ken has led Navy to in his time as a HC I think he is first a leader and that he would be successful anywhere.
