As Dr J says, all time greats are usually emotional picks. i like to judge by how they dominated their
own time. BYU was, say some, the best team in the nation the year Mel led them to the NIT Championship.
Some kind of fluke which i can't recall caused BYU's planned to both post season tourneys to get scratched at the last minute.
In those days, the NIT was on a par with the NCAA, though that was about to change via an NCAA power play in subsequent years.
