It's baffling to me how many CBers keep tossing out the $5bil figure for the City Creek Mall.
Where does this number come from? According to FairMormon.org:
$1.5bil is pretty well documented.
So, fellow CBers, go ahead and have a conversation about whether the Church should be spending money on a mall. But please have the intellectual honesty to stop spreading false information about it.

The City Creek Center cost is approximately $1.5 billion, not $5 billion. (The $5 billion figure is popularly used on ex-Mormon message boards)
