Utah is experiencing a high point of success. They can ride it for a while, but like all programs, they will come back down to earth.

When I was young ASU came into the Pac-10 and talked about Rose Bowls and success. They did well immediately. Far better than Utah has done over the past four. They came close on several occasions in the early 80's to make the Rose Bowl. The University of Arizona kept squashing their season in those first years. They finally made the Rose Bowl in 1997 only to get beat by Ohio State.

Since that period, they haven't even come close to sniffing the Rose Bowl. They are a middle Conference team and not looking to go up significantly. I remember consistently beating USC and even UCLA in the 80's and thinking that ASU would get over the hump. They NEVER did.

More importantly, they were superior to U of A in the 80s and 90s, but now you would never know that they were the dominant team in the state.
